Active volcanos, zip-lines, hot springs another day in Costa Rica

5 October, 2007 (09:27) | Costa Rica |

Second stop. Tabacon hot springs Resort at the base of Arenal Volcano which is very much active and erupts on some level everyday.

Arenal and a Little eruption from our Hotel

Like all girls Kim says no bikini shots but I safe with this water slide dismount

being watched

Our second home in the Jungle

If not on a major Highway the roads are this

Coyote lurking on some cattle

Our cover is obviously blown

More poisonous frogs

Duck with a Mohawk

The Zip-line tour was amazing. A series of 10 Zip-lines through the tree tops over valleys and waterfalls. As you can see they are high as fuck and some were over 3000 ft long. On the longer lines you hit 40-45 mph.

Return cable at the Start/Finish of the course

This is your brake

The take off

just you and the cable

sketchy suspension bridges over waterfalls on the way to another cable

valley to valley tree top slide

When done with that your ride horses back these sketchy trails back to the base of the mtn and stop at a native camp on the way

Native guard dog

gitty up

lunch by the pool and the volcano

the smoke rolling down the sides is from lava

critters out back

not again

hot springs. all natural. the closer you get to the volcano the hotter they get…

gotta get to work..more later cuz all those pics were only half of one day

Costa Rica….day 2 or so…

4 October, 2007 (08:59) | Costa Rica |

We were at the Peace Lodge for Three days and they all just seemed to blend together. One afternoon we decided to take a little drive and see some more of the countryside

old bridge vs new bridge

hit 7-11 for items we forgot

guard dog

critter crossing

the best fruit ever

Most towns only had one phone it seemed

my spanish blows but i’m pretty this sign means “GANGWAAAY”

amused by a monkeyface/angel logo

stopping to eat at someones house/cafe in the middle of nowhere

the woman new ZERO english. i pointed to the only other guy in the places plate and stuck two fingers in the air. We got two huge platters including steak and soda. It cost $1.50

i got 2 steaks out of the deal

back porch/bathroom

Back to the Lodge

Easily amused by our Peace Lodge bracelets which gave us the ability to roam wherever

Pool Party

the bottom pool was absolutely frigid

jacuzzi

lifeguard

In the rainforest it rains every afternoon and all night. Fairly hard. I opened our door one night and found this little guy drinking out of a puddle on our door step so I invited him in.

Made himself right at home on my lap by the fire

Left him here and went to bed but at 4 a.m.

Morning view last morning here

Our dollar goes along way. Give them $100 and they give you 48956.00 colones

On the Road Again

Our tiny Dihatsu’s Climbing the volcano

You literally have about an hour to see the crater of the volcano. Its gotta be early in the morning due to the cloud cover. We got there and this is what we saw. yea

Disappointed we hiked to a Poas Lagoon on top of Volcano Poas

On the way out we backtracked to the crater and got extremely lucky cuz the wind blew the clouds out for about 5 min. It was mind blowing

And then the clouds came back. Check me out on top of a volcano (i was there i swear)

Look up cuz there birds look funny

Costa Rica…the first few days in a Rain Forest

3 October, 2007 (23:36) | Costa Rica |

With the help of Tom,his wife Laurie and there 2yr old son Corey I toured through a small part of Central America. We got over 700 pictures so I am gonna through them a few days as at time as to not bore you all to death…

3:30a.m. waiting for our ride to the airport

the captain said “turn off all electrical devices”

3rd world country means wild Chickens

we rented the smallest SUV ever made.

Destination Poas Volcano

City Life

Cafe Kimberly (it took us 4 days to figure out what Soda meant)

The churches in most towns were the nicest structures

Experimental Farming

Rural Life

Mud Houses

We arrived out our first hotel. Its called The Peace Lodge and is fucking amazing. Its in the middle of the rain forest and built on the side of a cliff.

We called this home for a few days

The bathroom had a rock waterfall behind the tub and all the plants are real

The shower was a rock cave waterfall

Huge bathroom light fixture

enough with the bathroom, how about a private balcony

hot tub

and a very active humming bird feeder

fire place and rocker at the foot of the bed

Before bed you fill out a list of what you want for breakfast. For $1 it will be waiting for you on your balcony whatever time you want it

The place is literally in the rain forest with trails leading to 6 huge waterfalls, a Butterfly garden, enormous Bird habitat, and exhibits of Jungle cats, Monkeys, Snakes, and Poisonous Frogs… here we go

and another

and a big one in front of a lil one

and another

The frogs were amazing. Most highly poisonous. At night go on the frog tour because they are nocturnal and more fun to see in the dark

Jungle Cats you dont wanna F with. All in captivity because they are all endangered

Birds

Butterflies

Monkeys
